AI Unlocked: Bocada’s Year-in-Review and What’s Next

Matt Hall, CEO | January 7, 2026

As we reflect on 2025, I want to begin with a sincere thank you—to our customers, partners, and the entire Bocada team. Your trust, feedback, and collaboration continue to shape everything we build. In a year marked by rapid change across AI, cloud, compliance, and cyber resilience, you challenged us to move faster, think bigger, and deliver more.

Together, we made 2025 a pivotal year for Bocada and our customers. Here’s a recap of the highlights and progress:

Major Milestones from 2025 🏆

AI-Powered Resilience 🤖

AI became a core pillar of Bocada’s platform in 2025. We developed agentic AI capabilities (see demo below) and an MCP Server to integrate Bocada with enterprise AI tools. New AI-enabled reports include anomaly detection to identify early signs of ransomware attacks or prevent failures before they happen; identification of missed backup jobs, and predictive storage consumption forecasting to anticipate capacity risks before they impact recoverability.

Storage Monitoring & Cost Visibility 📊

Storage observability emerged as a major focus area. Bocada expanded storage data collection, reporting, and alerting—across on-prem and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, IONOS, S3-compatible storage providers) —while adding cloud backup storage cost reporting to help customers understand and optimize spend. Our new AI-powered storage utilization forecasting further helps customers stay ahead of storage capacity risks.

Bocada Cloud Growth & Maturation ☁️

In 2025, we added multiple subscription tiers to Bocada Cloud and welcomed hundreds of new organizations to Bocada. The platform matured significantly, delivering deeper insights and reporting, stronger security, and broader integrations. Today, Bocada Cloud is perfectly suited for MSPs, SMBs, and even cloud-first enterprise customers.

Technology Alliance & Reseller Partnerships

We delivered innovative joint solutions and product showcases with technology partners such as AWS (see demo video), ServiceNow (see Bocada Resolve), SecureFrame (see compliance guide), IONOS, HaloPSA, N-able, and Vanta. We broadened our distribution channels with reseller partners such as Carahsoft, Azure Marketplace, and others. (Become a Bocada Partner.)

Bocada Enterprise: 2025 Highlights 🏢

Bocada Enterprise delivered several major advancements in 2025:

  • AI Anomaly Detection to flag ransomware indicators, unrestorable backups, and cyber-resilience risks
  • AI Missed Backup Detection to identify jobs that failed to run as scheduled
  • AI Storage Consumption Forecasting to predict capacity exhaustion and pinpoint growth drivers
  • Storage monitoring was significantly expanded with new cloud backup storage cost reporting for AWS and Azure, storage threshold alerting, and added support for Infinidat (InfiniBox & InfiniGuard), Dell PowerScale OneFS, IONOS, and S3-compatible storage.
  • Operationally, we launched Bocada Resolve, a new remediation module, modernized the user interface (UI) with improved navigation and light/dark mode, and delivered meaningful performance improvements across reporting, the Remote Data Collector, and the installer.

Bocada Cloud: 2025 Highlights ☁️

Bocada Cloud saw rapid innovation focused on adoption, visibility, and MSP enablement:

  • We introduced four subscription tiers to serve different customer needs: Free, Standard, Pro, and Ultimate
  • We added Single Sign-On (SSO) and Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
  • We launched the Backup Health Score as an intuitive 0-100 indicator of overall backup effectiveness. (See demo video below.)

  • We expanded the ecosystem with eight new connectors, including Commvault Metallic, OCI, Veeam Agent, Veeam Data Cloud for M365, Druva inSync, MSSQL, Synology Active Backup for Business, and Axcient x360 Recover.
  • We added auto-ticketing integrations for AutoTask, ConnectWise, and Jira, alongside six new reports and expanded unprotected resource audit reporting using VMware vCenter and CMDB inventory data. Additional enhancements included powerful custom-branded HTML report exports (see below) and customizable sub-domain URLs for customer logins.

Other Company Milestones 🌟

Engineering

  • In 2025, Bocada made major engineering investments to support advanced AI-driven functionality across all products. We delivered predictive AI reporting, an AI Agent for intelligent analysis and recommendations, an MCP Server for enterprise AI integration, and deeper storage telemetry—including cloud storage cost collection—to help customers proactively manage risk and spend.

Customer Success

  • Bocada achieved SOC 2 Type II compliance, providing customers with ongoing assurance across Security, Availability, Processing Integrity, Confidentiality, and Privacy.

Looking Ahead: Industry Trends 🔮

As we move into 2026, several themes continue to shape the industry:

  • AI Embedded Across Observability & Backup Workflows — In 2026, AI is no longer a niche add-on but a foundational capability in observability and data infrastructure. Organizations are evolving from basic monitoring to AI-augmented observability, in which systems continuously assess data quality, performance, and behavioral patterns of complex pipelines in real time. This shift helps teams detect issues earlier and make proactive decisions about reliability, efficiency, and risk.
  • Storage as a Focal Point for Cost, Resilience & Efficiency — Storage is increasingly central to resilience and operational cost strategy. With data volumes exploding, enterprises are investing in advanced storage technologies and integrations that balance cost management with performance and durability. Storage infrastructure is being optimized not only for capacity and speed, but also for ransomware detection, automated rebalancing, and long-term data retention — all critical to maintaining both recoverability and predictable cost.
  • Continuous Assurance Replacing Point-in-Time Audits — The era of annual or quarterly compliance checks is giving way to continuous assurance models. With automated monitoring, businesses can demonstrate coverage and risk posture 365 days a year. This evolution not only increases confidence but also shortens the feedback loop for detecting gaps before they become incidents. (Learn how Bocada works with automated compliance platforms such as Secureframe.)
  • Security Deeply Integrated with Backup Observability — Security and backup are converging into unified resilience strategies. Advanced threat actors and automated attacks mean that visibility into backup data, telemetry, and control planes must also provide security context — from detecting unusual access patterns to automating containment. AI-powered security tooling is being embedded throughout observability and backup stacks to accelerate detection and response while reducing operational burden.
