Organizations using the report will now have an automated way to identify unusual spikes and valley in bytes transferred for successful backups. Monitoring variances helps to signal potential IT environment issues like ransomware attacks affecting multiple systems.
The Bytes Variance Report is designed to allow users to identify unusual backup activity compared to historical norms, including absolute bytes and percent bytes over and under average byte volumes. As with all Bocada reports, the Bytes Variance Report is highly configurable, allowing users to: determine how historical averages are calculated; examine only certain clients or servers; and zero in on backups during select date range. By offering backup admins an automated way to pinpoint jobs that may have succeeded but still have some underlying issues, the report is a proactive tool for identifying potential cybersecurity issues in enterprise environments.
