FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BOCADA ANNOUNCES SUPPORT FOR MICROSOFT DPM 2007

Module Provides Industry-Leading Visibility and Optimizes Windows-Based Data Protection Management Operations

Bellevue, WA, October 16, 2007 – Bocada, Inc., the leading provider of data protection management software, today announced support for Microsoft® System CenterTM Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2007 (Beta) with its new Bocada Enterprise 5 data protection management software plug-in module.

The optional plug-in module leverages the industry-leading scalability and reporting capabilities of Bocada Enterprise 5 to help IT professionals optimize backup and recovery of Windows workloads with comprehensive visibility into data protection management operations. DPM 2007 users can now speed troubleshooting, architect for higher efficiency and fine-tune schedules and resource allocation throughout Microsoft Exchange, Sharepoint and SQL ServerTM operations.

“We are impressed by the completeness of the reporting on DPM 2007 that Bocada offers,” said Jason Buffington, Senior Product Manager at Microsoft. “We’ve heard from many Microsoft customers who are already relying on Bocada to monitor their existing backup solutions.  Those customers who are looking to deploy DPM within their heterogeneous enterprises considered it critical that Bocada be able to monitor DPM as well.  Customers using Bocada will be able to have one monitored view of their entire data protection strategy – including DPM 2007 for protecting their Microsoft servers (running Exchange Server, SQL Server, SharePoint Services and Windows file services), as well as monitoring their other backup solution(s) that are protecting their other critical platforms.”

Support for DPM 2007 further demonstrates the broad capabilities of Bocada Enterprise in providing a single centralized view of cross-platform, heterogeneous data protection environment operations and allowing IT managers unsurpassed insight throughout their disk-to-disk, disk-to-disk-to-tape and disk-to-archive data protection processes. As with all of Bocada’s data protection offerings, the new module does not require the use of software agents for application or backup servers and works seamlessly with other leading storage management applications from CA, EMC/Legato, HP, IBM, Oracle, Sun StorageTek and Symantec and others.

“Based on the tremendous interest in the Microsoft DPM 2007 from the Windows user community, we felt it was imperative to provide comprehensive reporting for the solution at an early stage,” said Nancy Hurley, vice president of sales and marketing for Bocada. “We are already taking orders, and we are expecting significant interest in the Bocada DPM 2007 reporting plug-in and look forward to working with the Microsoft channels to drive a complete solution  to Windows customers.”

Bocada customers running Microsoft applications can take advantage of Bocada Enterprise 5’s standard analytic features including Success and Failure reports, Capacity Planning and Load reports, SLA Compliance Summary reports, as well as Backup Client and Billing Backup reports.

The DPM module from Bocada is currently working in production environments employing the DPM 2007 application. Customers using the beta application can contact Bocada for an evaluation of the module, which will be generally available in Q4 2007.
