Bocada is led by a management team experienced in enterprise, data storage, and reporting software development, sales, and support.
Nancy Hurley
President and Chief Executive Officer
Nancy is a seasoned sales and marketing executive, with over 20 years experience in the storage, communications, and networking industries. Prior to joining Bocada, Nancy was Senior Director of Storage Software Marketing for Sun Microsystems. Before Sun, she was a senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) where she provided strategic consulting to vendors in the storage software and infrastructure markets. Prior to ESG, she served as the Worldwide Strategic Planning Manager for Tektronix Communications Test Group and was with Hewlett Packard for 10 years in various senior sales and marketing roles. Outside of work Nancy is active outdoors and actually enjoys 400 mile cycling trips and camping across Oregon. At this point, the ambition to live life as a ski bum is over due to the above diversions, but owning a wine bar is in her future.
Nancy holds a B.S.E.E. from Syracuse University.
Bruce Leban
VP of Engineering
Bruce leads the engineering team responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining Bocada's applications. Bruce has over 30 years of experience in the software industry, with experience at multiple startups and larger companies, including Microsoft, Google, Hewlett-Packard Labs and IBM Research. At Microsoft, Bruce led teams building security and server management software. At Google, he worked on communication products and was a member of the company's Application Security team responsible for improving the security of Google's products. Bruce also played a leadership role at startups developing business productivity, web publishing, and assistive technology software. Bruce has a BS in Computer Science and a BS in Mathematics from the University of Kansas and an MS in Computer and Information Science from the University of Massachusetts. He has published a variety of papers on topics ranging from user interfaces to databases, most recently publishing a web-hosted tutorial on Web Application Exploits and Defenses that teaches developers about web application security. He has three patents with others pending. When he is not working on software, he solves, creates, and edits puzzles.
Kim Read
Chief Administrative Officer
As one of the original members of the Bocada team, Kim has spent the last ten years managing operations at Bocada. Kim is responsible for Human Resources, Contracts, Facilities Management and Customer Support. Prior to joining Bocada, Kim worked as a paralegal at AT&T Wireless Services working with large corporations to negotiate contracts for wireless services, this included the wireless system at Safeco Field. From there she moved on to become the Manager of Legal Services at drugstore.com. This role encompassed managing vendor contracts, employment issues, assisting with new business development projects and providing required reporting to the federal government. Kim started her career in philanthropy, spending eight years at Evergreen Hospice and Healthcare Foundation. During that time, she managed the development of the on-site memorial garden at the hospice center as well as their major fundraiser each year, Festival of Trees. She also served as Annual Giving Manager, assisting families in establishing memorials and endowment funds in honor of their loved ones.
Kathryn Otto
CFO
Kathryn Otto (Katie) is responsible for all aspects of Financial Reporting and Accounting at Bocada. Prior to joining the team in 2006, she focused on software revenue recognition at WatchGuard Technologies and aQuantive, Inc. Katie began her finance career in public accounting at Deloitte. She earned a BA in Business/Accounting from the University of Washington and is a licensed CPA in Washington. When not crunching numbers, Katie can be spotted hiking in the Cascades, making homemade jam, and running the local streets with her dog, Tommy.
Tommy-Bocada
Director of Employee Well-Being
Tommy oversees the well-being of all employees at Bocada. Prior to joining the team, Tommy developed his socialization skills at doggie day-camp, perfected his napping techniques, and also found time to play fetch daily. Recently, Tommy decided to pursue a career in the business world as the Director of Employee Well-Being at Bocada. Tommy is responsible for daily employee nuzzles, organizing hallway fetch sessions, and maintaining an overall sense of calmness throughout the company. Outside of the office, Tommy enjoys running with his human, chasing squirrels, swimming, and playing with his tennis ball.
